Observers
Observer is defined as one enrolled in a pre-medical higher education program
that is 18+ years of age, but not yet to the level of patient care. An
observer will shadow a Covenant Health medical professional with no hands-on
learning and should never at any time participate in care delivered to
the patient. This process is not offered for those completing the credentialing process.
Exceptions:
Students 16+ years of age may be considered when providing a letter of
recommendation by a school official on your school's letterhead.
Visiting Physicians, Allied Health, and Nursing will be considered on a
case-by-case basis.

Observers must procure their own supervising provider
before submitting an application.
Covenant Health does not match the observer with a provider. If you do not have one, you can go to
https://www.providence.org/doctors, enter the specialty that you are interested in, click on a provider,
and call the office number to ask if that provider is willing to allow
you to shadow them at a Covenant facility.

Notify your supervising provider that after you submit your application,
they will receive an automatic email to attest that they are your shadowing
supervisor and that your immunizations are up to date.

Your immunizations will need to be submitted to your supervisor for review.

To streamline onboarding, your application must be received a
minimum of 4 weeks prior to your start date.

Total estimated time to complete the application is 45-60 minutes. (This includes an orientation that must be watched via a link that is
embedded in the platform.) A certificate of completion will be generated
after you pass the 10-question quiz with a score of 80+.
After all required documents have been received, your badge will be ordered,
and you will be notified of when/where to pick it up.
*Badge pickup is not available on Thursdays at Lubbock facilities. A $10 fee will be charged for damaged/lost/stolen badges that need to be
re-printed. Cash Only.
